Invest in Harlem

Harlem is a diverse neighborhood with a wealth of history, culture, and activism. We must invest to preserve our communities and uplift Harlemites. We’re fighting for a United Harlem!

As an Assemblymember I will fight to:

  • Expand access to grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and food banks, focusing on healthy & affordable food for everyone.

  • Create more community spaces like The Forum and ensure our people know about it.

  • Support community violence prevention programs.

  • Create more language access centers for immigrants living in Harlem.

  • Hold Columbia accountable to their Community Benefits Agreement, to ensure we are building affordable housing, investing in community services, and providing Harlem students with scholarships.

  • Prioritize locally owned businesses for vacant storefronts.

  • Invest in programs and educational options for students with special needs and disabilities.

  • Create more community gardens.

  • Support having more open streets across Harlem.

  • Expand and invest in CUNY’s Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

  • Advocate for accessible trains, more buses, and access to express buses.
